FAQ

  • What types of screen doors do you offer?

Everything I make is custom to your needs and measurements. Each screen doors is handmade out of wood to suit different architectural styles and personal preferences. Some of the popular styles include traditional, contemporary, victorian, and craftsman. To get a better sense of my work and explore my hinged screen door styles, I invite you to check out the website's lookbook or contact me directly.

  • Do you offer installation services?

Yes, I personally install all of my custom screen doors to ensure a perfect fit and clean installation. However, if you prefer to provide your own measurements, I offer the option to create a custom door based on those dimensions. In these cases, I do not provide installation services. However, for whichever option you choose, I will work with you to ensure a perfect fit and clean installation.

  • Can I choose the color and style of my screen door?

Absolutely! I offer a wide range of colors, styles, and details to choose from. I am happy to offer suggestions if needed and I will work with you to find the perfect match for your home or business.

  • What type of screen mesh do you use for your custom screen doors?

I use a high-quality fiberglass screen mesh that is designed to withstand wear and tear from regular use, as well as exposure to the elements. The durable, long-lasting mesh is claw-resistant and provides excellent visibility while also keeping bugs out of your home or business.

  • How much do your custom screen doors cost?

The cost of a custom screen door can vary depending on factors such as size, materials, hardware, and design. As an example, an entry-level custom screen door would be a basic design made to fit a standard sized door frame, made of clear vertical grain fir, standard hardware, and left unfinished (meaning sanded and ready for paint/stain). Prices for this type of screen door start at $1100, which includes installation.

As a more cost-effective option, you can opt to take the measurements yourself and have your door built to those exact dimensions. In this case, a basic design with standard hardware provided and unfinished wood (sanded and ready for paint or stain) start at $900. While I do not provide installation in these cases, I am happy to deliver the door for an additional fee.

I provide personalized quotes for each project based on your specific needs and preferences.

  • How do I care for my custom screen door?

Proper care and maintenance will help extend the life of your custom screen door. I recommend cleaning the door regularly with a soft cloth or sponge and mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the finish or screen mesh. Using WD-40 sprayed onto a rag is the easiest way to wipe down the screen itself.

If your door is exposed to direct sunlight or moisture, I recommend applying a fresh coat of stain or paint every 2-5 years to help protect the wood. I also recommend removing the screen door during winter or rainy months to protect it from excess moisture.
